For him, power is not a problem: a simple and functional Lanberg POE+ switch
The PoE+ switch is an indispensable device active in any network structure that uses power transmission through structured cabling. RSFE-4P-2FE-60 is dedicated to all installations: home, company, low-current, MONITORING, IP, VoIP, cable TV networks, and in particular will be used in alarm, fire and access control infrastructure.
In addition to the switch's original function, which supports Ethernet frame movement between ports, it also provides power to each device in the PoE/PoE+ 802.3af and at standards. This makes it possible to deliver a total of up to 60 W to the devices.
This allows you to save resources, space and time that should be spent on the installation of a separate electrical and network installation. This is especially important if the network is distributed and its end devices do not have access to a power source, especially when they are mounted outdoors.
A solution without compromise - a real POE budget: 60 w
The switch is equipped with a total of 6 ports, including 4 PoE+ ports and 2 Uplink. The well-thought-out design and attention to the quality of the components provides the user with up to 60 W of total real power for the end devices, which means that it is possible to connect simultaneously:
- 4 devices in IEEE 802.3af standard (max. 15 W per port) or
- 2 devices in IEEE 802.3at standard (max. 30 W per port)
The remaining 2 ports (Uplink) are dedicated to the exchange of data traffic between 4 PoE+ ports and external devices. In the case of monitoring/control systems, this is particularly useful because it allows the user to simultaneously rip the recording from the cameras on the recorder and share it further, e.g. on a local network or on the Internet.
Intelligent POE port disconnection function
In most switches available on the market with a small number of ports, it is not entirely clear how they will behave when the available PoE budget is exceeded. There are several possibilities: the one that exceeds the budget or random port or the latest connected one will be disconnected. In the last case, what will be their order after the power outage and its restoration when they are all simultaneously plugged into the switch?
Lanberg has introduced an innovative solution in the RS series switches, which, thanks to the simplicity of the principle of operation, eliminates all doubts as to the mechanics of port operation.
At the moment when the PoE budget is exceeded (e.g. through a device connected to port 1), the switch will start disconnecting PoE ports starting from the highest numbering until the sum of the loads does not exceed the available budget; while keeping intact the operation of the remaining ports. Those that will be disconnected will in effect be alternately turned off and on.
The function is primarily dedicated to demanding applications that emphasize safety and continuity of work, where some devices must operate continuously regardless of the situation. In such cases, Lanberg switches will allow the user to secure critical devices by connecting them to the lowest port numbering.
Extend mode up to 250 meters
Standard switches in accordance with the standard provide the possibility of operation of devices at a distance of up to 100 m on one section of cable. However, sometimes it turns out that due to the extensive backbone network and complex environment, a custom solution that goes beyond the standard is required when developing cabling and networking. In the case of monitoring solutions, this is a fairly common problem, most often resulting from too much distance between the distribution device and the end device.
Lanberg switches have a function that allows data transmission (max. 10 Mb/s) and PoE+ power supply up to 250 m on one cable section. Simply switch the button to the PoE+ Extend 250m position on the case to ensure longer-term operation for 1~4 ports.
The solution was introduced for monitoring and IP systems as well as access control, especially if the end devices are located outside without the possibility of installing additional distribution points of the network.
4 kV surge protection
The switch itself, as well as the devices connected to it, are repeatedly exposed to various hazards, including current discharges that can flow through both power and network cables.
With the safety of the devices and their users in mind, Lanberg has equipped the switch with an integrated anti-discharge protection system, guaranteeing 4 kV protection for all ports, effectively reducing their damage due to a sharp increase in voltage.
Under standard conditions, work in the network will continue without interruptions, the switch will continue to work without any interruptions, and the user gains security of the device and infrastructure.
Mounting set included - ears up to 10" & 19"
The RS switch series is characterized not only by the quality of workmanship, simplicity of use, functionality of the device, but also by complementarity in terms of assembly and supplied accessories where possible.
Most of the available small switches on the market are supplied for free-standing mounting or in standard 19. Some manufacturers forget about users who want to use their products in smaller home installations or SOHO. And especially where the switches have a small number of ports, and thus a small housing. Thus, they can be mounted not only in cabinets with the mentioned size 19, but also in smaller ones, such as 10.
Lanberg has introduced a set of accessories for the versatile installation of its switches. The RSFE-4P-2FE-60 supplied separate mounting ears for cabinets 10 and 19 and a set of mounting screws (except for M6). This enables wider use and greater freedom of installation of RS series switches.
