Sd.Kfz.167 Sturmgeschutz IV
The Sturmgeschotz IV was developed on the chassis of the Panzer IV medium tank to provide the German Army with an assault gun that could effectively serve as a tank destroyer in the later stages of World War II. The Stug IV was equipped with a rapid-firing Stuk40 75 mm L/48 gun mounted in a casemate, protected by an armored shield, capable of penetrating the armor of the enemy's main armored vehicles.
In the early months of 1944, it supplemented and often replaced the Stug III assault gun, whose production in 1943 was suddenly reduced due to increasingly frequent Allied bomber raids on German industrial areas. The widely used Stug IV was used by armored units and anti-tank troops of the Wehrmacht, where it was particularly difficult to identify due to its low profile.
