Peaktech 3434 cabling tester with tone generator
This new cable finder works acoustically and provides a fast and cost-effective solution for finding voltage-free lines in home installations, testing telephone lines and identifying individual cables/wires or performing a continuity test.
Using a sound transmitter/generator, the carrier signal is modulated into an electrical wire, which can be tracked via a receiver/amplifier with a built-in speaker or via a headphone jack. You can also control the sensitivity with a knob on the receiver to get the best possible identification even with cored wires. When connected to a phone jack via an RJ-11 connector, the transmitter LED indicates the status of the active telephone line between "free", "busy" or "ringtones". In addition, the transmitter has a continuity test in which the LED lights up brightly when passing and attenuates as the resistance increases.
