T-55 tank model
The T-54 / T-55 family of medium tanks was built by the Soviet Union after the end of world war II.
The design was characterized, like the famous T-34, due to several basic features: simple, effective, economical in production, easy to repair on the battlefield.
These features quickly accelerated its spread in the Warsaw Pact countries, but also in many other countries of Asia and Africa. The T-55 tank, which can be considered one of the most famous post-war MBTs, is actually an evolution of the T-54 through the use of an improved engine, more space for ammunition and more effective protection against weapons of mass destruction.
Armed with a cal. 100 mm was equipped with important protection, thanks to which its total weight was 35 tons. It was used for decades in many operations, becoming one of the most widespread armored vehicles in military history.
