Field gun 75 mm wz. 1897 is a towed cannon kal. 75 mm of French production, used in the Polish Army in the interwar period and in the initial period of World War II. The weight of the weapon in the combat position was 1190 kilograms, with a total length (in the combat position) of 4.5 meters. The maximum volume reached about 11,200 meters, with a rate of fire of up to 12 shots per minute.
The presented cannon is a version of the famous seventy-five produced at Schneider's plant for the needs of the French army, the same one that was one of the main cannons of the French army during the Great War. The first guns of this type reached the Polish Army together with the Blue Army of General Haller, and the next one received from France in the early 20s of the twentieth century. Another 300 units were purchased in 1924, and in the same year more copies were obtained from Romania. Field gun 75 mm wz. 1897 during the 20th anniversary of the interwar period was the basic infantry support gun, which was most often towed in horse traction. A number of these guns in 1937 were adapted for towing in motor traction, by replacing wooden wheels with metal ones with tires. C7P or PZInż vehicles were used as artillery tractors. wz. 34. It is assumed that at the beginning of the September Campaign in the Polish Army there were about 1370 guns of this type.
