Red Cathedral
Red Cathedral is a compact euro game of medium gravity, using many mechanics, such as worker placement, area control or saucepan mechanics. Workers are symbolized here by moving dice, which will surely appeal to all fans of such games as Tekhenu or Teotihuacan. The action of the Red Cathedral takes us to sixteenth-century Moscow, where Tsar Ivan the Terrible commissions his workers to build a monumental temple. Representing craft workshops, players will source resources and focus on individual fragments of the cathedral, trying to complete them in front of their opponents. The game box, with its small size, contains a huge number of detailed components, such as plastic and wooden resources, cards, coins or the Market Board, decorated with motifs of old Russian fairy tales. The Red Cathedral presents different gameplay boards depending on the number of players, while offering an extensive solo variant.
The Will of the Tsar
The order was given. A monumental cathedral is to be built in Moscow, eclipsing the whole world with its magnificence. Crowds of workers set to work, wanting to impress their ruler. Only a small group will be appreciated by the Tsar. The other workers, well, may God take care of them.
Cathedral
The eponymous Cathedral is depicted in the game using cards placed on the table. The layout of the cards will vary depending on the number of players and the pattern drawn. One of the player's available actions is to reserve one of the cathedral cards, placing his Banner on it. From now on, only this player will be able to build a given fragment, allocating the required resources presented on the selected card.
Prestige and Recognition
When we complete a fragment of the Cathedral located above the unfinished fragment of another player, he receives a negative PZ. In the Red Cathedral we have two types of Victory Points Recognition points and much more worth Prestige points. The former will be obtained for the completed fragments of the temple, the latter for making additional decorations, such as Crosses, Arches and Doors. Building the sixth fragment of the Temple, i.e. launching the end of the game, also provides Prestige points.
Resource Market
The Market Board is presented in the form of a circle divided into eight zones, and a different resource is assigned to each zone. On the rim of the wheel there are four dice in the colors of the players plus one white bone. When performing the Resource Acquisition action, the player selects one bone and moves it by the number of meshes indicated on it. If the bone is white or the player's color, the player can move one additional field for each paid ruble. The player receives as many resources from a given Market field as there are dice on it.
