Coatl is a family board game for lovers of abstract puzzle games such as Azul, Sagrada and Reef. In the game, players will create the most points likenesses of Feathered Snakes, called Coatls. The point value of each of the snakes depends on the executed prophecy cards and the selected Temple card. This combination makes it a great family title, as well as a good proposition for advanced players. The work set in Aztec climates is simple rules, fast gameplay, and at the same time amazing replayability.
Become a High Priest!
The time has come! You have to choose a new Aztec High Priest! You already know that you will also be applying for this position. A difficult task is ahead of you: you need to create the most beautiful, dignified and best feathered images of Coatl, the serpent god, protector of heaven and earth. Your creation must be amazing and magnificent, or at least greater than the miserable sweats of your opponents.
Assembling sculptures
At Coatl we will be assembling Feathered Snakes using numerous colourful elements. During your turn, you can choose one piece of the Snake's head, tail, or two torso from the Supply board and place it on the free field of your Player's board. During the next turns, you will perform the action of assembling your elements in the image of Coatel.
Individual scoring
However, you will not score for the submission itself, but for the cards of Prophecies and Temples. They contain conditions that must be met to get points for your Snake, e.g. a certain number of segments or a combination of two specific colors. The Temple Cards are a common goal in the middle of the table, and you will be picking the Prophecy cards on your hand as part of the action.
For advanced
If the Supply board runs out of torso elements, you choose another one from the bag. The game ends when one of you arranges three Snakes or when all the segments are exhausted. But this is not the end! After the first game, you can add Sacrifice tokens to the game. They will allow you to perform special, unique actions in your turns!
Advantages:
- Fast gameplay with a short quilt, simple rules and a lot of replayability thanks to individual scoring;
- Advanced player mode with additional Sacrifice tokens;
- Aztec atmosphere, cards with fabulous graphics and colorful elements of Folding Snakes.
