The Fort game
FORT is a fun, fast-paced card game from Grant Rodiek (Hocus, Farmageddon, Imperius) and publisher Leder Games (Root, Oath) that takes us back to the days of carefree childhood! Taking on the role of crazy kids, we'll eat pizza, make new friends and build forts as we compete for the title of coolest kid in the neighbourhood! The game uses deck building and management mechanics. Each card can be used in a number of ways, either by performing your own actions or by mimicking the moves of your opponents. Which strategy will you choose? Your own path or following the other kids? Just be careful! If you don't use up all your cards, the other players can gush them to you! After all, if you're not playing with your friends, why should they buddy up with you?
It's time to have some fun!
School's out, it's time to play! Kids from all over the neighbourhood are raring to go in the backyard. They want to eat as much pizza as possible, get new mates and build mighty forts! And there you are, the eager to please. Will you imitate your friends? Or will you follow your own path, becoming an object of admiration and envy for your peers?
Turns
Each player's turn consists of five phases. During Collecting the Crew, you clear the Yard of all the cards you played in the previous turn. You then play a card from your hand, taking one or two actions on it. During the Recruit phase, you take one of the Kid's cards from the centre of the table or any card from another player's Yard. During the Discard phase, we put all the played cards into the discard pile and the unplayed cards are placed in the Yard. Finally, you draw new cards from your deck into your hand.
Leader
The Leader is nothing more than the player who is currently playing his turn. There are two actions on each card: a Public action and a Private action. When the Leader plays a card, the other players can follow him by taking the Public action from the card he played. To do so, they must first discard one card from their hand with a symbol matching the symbol of the card played. And so, we can imitate as many leaders as we want until our turn!
FORT
The fort is probably the most important part of the whole game, after all, every kid dreams of having their own fortress! All players start the game with a Fort at level 0. Its expansion is very important, because at the end of the game the level of the Fort will translate into Victory Points, and in the meantime it will increase the capacity of our Backpacks and Chat Rooms. In the Backpack we store resources and in the Chat Room we can place valuable cards from our hand that we do not want to discard in the Yard. We expand the Fort by paying a certain number of resources for each additional level.
