The Mikoyan MiG-15 (Russian: -15) was the first mass-produced Soviet jet fighter. It was designated in the NATO code asFagot. The production of jet-powered fighters represented a major qualitative leap for the USSR industry. Soon the MIG-15 became an export hit and found its way into the equipment of Warsaw Pact countries, as well as Asian and African states. The machines of this type took part in many conflicts, they gained the greatest fame during the Korean War, fighting in the skies with the American counterpart of the North American F-86 Sabre.
