Forest
Forest is a strategic board game straight from the publisher Pandasaurus Games (Dinosaur Island, Dinosaur World). We take on the role of forest creature conjurers, preparing magical potions in a mysterious forest, where the seasons have mixed together. Bór Bór combines simple rules based on dice rolls with a large strategic load of area control and worker placement. During gameplay we can take several strategies, focusing on the greatest possible control of areas, or skillfully manage our workers. While taming new Creatures and preparing Potions, we will balance the random throw results and gradually build our action engine. The game has an amazing graphic design, reminiscent of Japanese animation and beautifully crafted components with custom dice at the forefront.
We need a pro
It's been so strange somehow. Winter, autumn, followed by winter again. Somewhere spring flashes by for a moment, followed by two years of summer. And it's not all about global warming! It is all about the forest. It messes about, plays with nature and spoils our moods. We could use someone to sort it all out, someone to brew a few potions, tame a few animals and tame the wildlife. An enchanter, or preferably several enchants.
Preparation
In preparation for the game, place the Village board in the centre of the table. It has two sides of Day and Night that change every round, providing different benefits and special actions. Above the board are the cards of the forest where you will be looking for ingredients to prepare Potions - place the Potions market on the left side of the board. On the right side of the board there will be 4 stacks of Creature cards. Each of you will receive 6 dice - 4 Food dice and 2 Elemental dice.
Brewing and taming
The game consists of 4 rounds. At the beginning of each round you all roll the dice and then place them on either the Village board or the Forest cards. In the Village you will perform various special actions, while in the Forest you will tame Animals and collect ingredients for Potions. Of course, the field on which you place a die must match the result of that die. During your turn, each of you will do 3 things in any order: you must place one of your dice, you may prepare 1 Potion, and you may drink 1 Potion from your hand.
Scoring
When you prepare an Elixir, you take it from your hand, when you choose to drink it, you receive PZ and one-time benefits. If you manage to tame a Creature, it will provide ongoing benefits such as more Ingredients collected, increased Forest control or disturbing other players. At the end of the round, the player with the most dice on a given Forest card takes it to themselves, which will provide them with additional VPs. At the end of the game you will score for Potions, Creatures, captured Forests and Ingredients held.
