Dive into the depths of the ocean, where an amazing coral reef ecosystem has developed. Expand coral formations and create an environment friendly to numerous sea creatures.
In Aqua, each participant creates an underwater world inhabited by coral colonies. By cultivating habitats of diverse species, players try to create ideal conditions that will attract both small aquatic creatures and larger animals inhabiting the deep sea.
What does it involve?
The game consists of 17 rounds, during which we play our turns one after another. A single turn consists of 3 phases:
- Coral cultivation. The player takes a coral tile from the general pool and places it in their playing area. At least one side of the new tile must match the color of another one they already have.
- Creating habitats and reefs. When cultivating corals, we must focus primarily on grouping them into habitats (regular hexagons composed of 3 areas of the same color) and reefs (clusters of at least 4 adjacent corals of the same color). If the player has created a habitat, it immediately attracts small animals.
- Establishing biodiversity. If the player has established biodiversity, they can attract large animals. This point is not mandatory, and its use should be adapted to our strategy as best as possible.
The game ends when the coral tiles are exhausted and the general pool cannot be created. The winner is the person who manages to cultivate the most impressive coral formations and attract the most small and large marine animals.
